This Resille necklace of Queen Alexandra`s is certainly a mystery! Menkes seems to think that Nellie`s "A" in her poll is the one made in 1904 by Cartier & pictured in the Francois Flamerg portrait "B" but Lanusk`s picture from the Cartier Paris exhibition, certainly looks like the other one "C" later probably worn by Queen Mary "D". Surely the Cartier book as quoted by LauraM is correct but is it the necklace in the painting? The painting appears more like "A" but paintings can be deceptive & looking at more images of this portrait, I think it could be "C"? Also the Royal Collection as well as Cartier say the necklace in the portrait is the Cartier 1904 Collier Resille, which must be "C". I did find another pic of "A" (only on the internet) but it did say the image comes from a book about Cartier & pictures a necklace made for Queen Alexandra in 1905. Are there any pictures of Queen Alexandra wearing this "A" necklace? I hope this doesn`t make it more confusing...Annie. : : : : :
