In November 1974, the Princess and her husband Mark Phillips came on a four-day tour to Toronto and Hamilton which brought maximum glitter. They attended the Royal Winter Fair which then, as is now, is one of the premier events for international riders and the Longines FEI World Cup. Clearly the perfect tour for the couple. The Princess opened the Fair on 15 Nov 1974 wearing her festoon tiara and the magnificent Russian sapphire and pearl choker borrowed from the Queen. The second evening found the Princess in her second tiara, the Meander, worn with her De Beers Fancies brooch and diamond cluster earrings. In the early 1970s, it was fashionable to wear a brooch, such as a cameo, at the centre of a wide black ribbon and the Princess wore it that way. A stunning Getty picture of the Princess clearly shows the brooch. Princess Anne 16 Nov 1974
