In the late Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester's autobiography, she states that there is a Chubb safe in all royal residences for the storage of jewellery.
--Previous Message-- : I suspect this is a very fair estimate of what : happens when Kate wears a tiara. At the : same time, I wonder whether the jewels : Camilla wears regularly are kept at Clarence : House, which may have its own vault. (The : silly picture of the footman in the papyrus : tiara seems to have been taken on the : Clarence House stairs.) And since Kate is : residing in Princess Margaret's old : apartment, it may be that there is a jewel : vault there also. Margaret owned much of : the jewelry she wore, including the : Poltimore tiara. I have read that the : Spencer tiara is kept in a bank vault, and : Diana had to request it each time she wore : it. But maybe she was able to keep other : jewels at Kensington Palace. Perhaps there : is storage for some pieces in the various : residences. All guesswork, of course! :
