: Queen Paola will never wear tiaras anymore. Well, who knows? King Albert II and Queen Paola seem to have retired from the public official duties related to State ceremonial, but they still might be invited to royal weddings where tiaras are still required. : Everybody knows in Belgium how bad the : relationship is between the former Monarchs : and the new. The Belgian Royal Family obviously has not displayed in the past decades the ideal model of a loving and united family (complicated, if not frankly cold, relations between Leopold III/Princess Lilian and King Baudouin/Queen Fabiola, between King Albert II and Queen Paola [when Prince and Princess of Liège], between Prince Laurent and the rest of the family...) - though I am not sure they are less united than, for instance, the Spanish Royal Family or, in France, the Orleans Family... Yet, even if "everybody knows it", what is the part of gossip in this "knowing"? The Belgian Royal Family is also the target of hostile political forces (namely the Flemish independentists, who support an independant Flemish republic, and therefore oppose the Royal Family...). They could have an interest in spreading (or at least exaggerating) the negative reputation of a supposedly dysfunctional family, in order to weaken the strong symbol and cement of the Belgian unity that the Crown is... : Time for a family foundation! I fully agree!!!
