Thank you Ella for the info....from what I observed with Princess Mary over the years was she always wore new jewels as soon as she received them..christmas, birthday, anniversary...so I have to agree with Erik that the gap is not making any sense..and I don't think she bought this tiara as well, knowing type of jewelry she prefers...it was definitely a gift.

: Thank you Ella for the complete information!
: Interesting: although it is wise for royals
: to keep new jewellery out of sight for a
: while, it seems unlikely CP Mary bought it
: herself in 2012. The gap is just too big.

: Last week I linked to an article from
: Billed-Bladet that stated that Crown
: Princess Mary had bought her new
    : necklace/tiara at auction.
    :
: Today, I was sent a copy of the auction
: catalogue. The antique necklace/tiara (and
: accompanying earrings) were bought at Bruun
: Rasmussen in Copenhagen in March 2012. Even
: more exciting: the piece has rubies and
: spinels interspersed within the diamonds.
    :
: A link to the auction catalogue, a
: discussion of the provenance notes, and
: several images can be found in my article
: on the purchase . Enjoy!
