: Queen Astrid died dramaticly in 1935 in a car
    : crash accident.

    : Why was he depressed?

: We have only a few pictues of King Leopold
    : III
: between 1935 and 1940. He was totally
    : depressed .
: (See pictures of Princess Beatrix 's Baptism
: in 1938. He was her Godfather and looked
    : devasted.)
    :
: In 1937 ,He did a State Visit to King
: Georges VI and Queen Elisabeth . There was a
: Ball at Buckingham Palace . Attendance Queen
: Mary and 12 members of the RF .
: Perhaps in your old newspapers you may find
    : a picture.

    : Dear Beth,
    :
: That is very great !
    :
: Is it possible to find a photo of State
: Ball in honour of King Leopold of the
    : Belgians ?
    :
: Do you think that the sunday times have some
: reports saying that Queen Elizabeth the
: Queen Mother was wearing emeralds ?
    :
: We could find an answer.
    :
    :
: I am pretty sure that she had inherited the
: emerald tiara shown Vincent's book.
    :
: Last but not least, Queen Elizabeth seems to
: have worn several times the turquoise tiara
    : when she was young.

: I have found some reports in the Sunday
    : Times
: for when Mrs Greville was reported to have
    : worn her emerald tiara.
    :
: I will only list a few of the later dates as
: my intention was to find the latest reports
: of her wearing the jewel.
    :
    : Report dated 1 July 1934
    :
    :
    :
    : Report dated 2 December 1934 at a
: pre-wedding reception for Princess Marina.
    :
    :
    :
: Report dated 28 June 1936 at a dance at
    : Holland House.
    :
    :
: Although the report does not specifically
: say Mrs Greville was wearing the emerald
: tiara that seems to be what is suggested.
    :
: Report dated 21 November 1937. This was for
: a State Ball in honour of King Leopold of
: the Belgians. Although the report does not
: specifically state that she wore a tiara, I
: think it is safe to assume she would have,
: but whether that necessarily suggests she
: wore the emerald tiara is open to question.
    :
    :
    :
: At the very least the media confirms that
: Mrs Greville was wearing the tiara in 1934,
: and given how the report was phrased for the
    : pre-wedding reception of Princess Marina, I
: suspect that Mrs Greville may have worn her
: emerald tiara when she wore the rest of her
    : emerald jewels.
