I found this old movie reel of the 1970 State Opening where Prince Charles and Princess Anne attended.
Back in those days all the peeresses and wives of peers wore their best jewels including tiaras.
Between the time frames of about 2:30 to 3:15, there are some great shots of the bejeweled ladies.
The lady in the center, in black, pulled out all of the stops, with her tiara, earrings, necklace and large décolletage brooch.
Also of note - a rather large retinue with The Duchess of Grafton and 3 Ladies-in-Waiting (perhaps one for Princess Anne). HM usually "manages" with only 2 these days.

I also love the hindsight moment when the announcer speaks to this "dramatic moment" in the 19th year of her reign....versus today's truly dramatic moment in HM's 64th year of her reign!!
