Queen Maxima baptised the Koningsdam a cruiseship of Holland America Line today. She wore two necklaces with large baroque pearls. One with greyish pearls and blue beads and what appears to be a new necklace consisting of large white pearls and interspaced by black diamond (?) encrusted beads.
Have we seen the last necklace before? I once read that, if a lady baptises a ship it is a custom to give her a piece of jewellery. Does anybody know if this is true and might both necklaces have been gifts by HAL to HM? She baptised a HAL ship in 2010 so the necklace with the greyish pearls could have been a previous gift. Just my speculation.
