I am hesitant to draw any conclusions at present as all that the will of the Duchess of Gloucester mentions is that a pearl and diamond stomacher was bequeathed to Princess Mary of Cambridge (the later Duchess of Teck). As far as I know none of the parts of Queen Mary's pearl and diamond stomacher has been seen on the Duchess of Teck.
Re the Duchess' will.
The Duchess of Gloucester left jewels to a number of her relatives including nieces who were Princesses of Hanover, Queen Victoria, the Duchess of Kent, Victoria, the Princess Royal (later Empress of Germany) as well as a number of her aristocratic friends.
One thing which did strike me was that, despite what Roberts suggests on page 130 of The Queen's Diamonds, there is no mention of any brooch which would fit the description of the Duchess of Teck's flower brooch (as worn by QEQM). The brooch left to the Duchess of Teck was described as a large square diamond brooch with drops.
--Previous Message-- : To summarize, David suggested that the pearl : and diamond stomacher worn by Queen Mary in : the above photos dated 1902, 1905, 1935, and : 1937, may have originally belonged to : Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester and : Edinburgh. Beth found that Princess Mary : left her niece and goddaughter, Princess : Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck, a pearl : stomacher in her will. Princess Mary died : in 1857 and Princess Mary Adelaide died in : 1897. So if Princess Mary Adelaide left the : stomacher to her daughter, Queen Mary, it : fits that the first picture we have of her : wearing it is in 1902. Here are a couple of : close-ups of the stomacher in question but : the second pic has the bottom cut off. : : :
