Very interesting topic! The first time I had been in Dresden in the 90s we visited the Green Vault in the Albertinum. It was the first real royal "Schatzkammer" I saw and it was sensational. My companions, all men, my friend with them, were not at all interested in jewellery, and so I had to be very brave and had to concentrate at all the other masterpieces as the Royal Household of Dehli or carved cherry stone. Which were fabulous, indeed. And than, finally, the jewels. The guys were bored. I was in heaven. Since than I´ve seen it once again but not yet the reconstructed green vault. I don´t know the current exhibition. Then the "Garnituren", the "sets" of brilliants, rubies, emeralds and amber were shown. Which are for the outfit of the king as Buttons, rapiers, aigrettes, buckles and so on. A topic we do not often discuss, maybe cause piece like this are not worn today. That´s a pity for jewellery worn by the sovereign were at least as important for the representation as the pieces worn by queens or princesses. For example I often found metioned the jewels worn by Louis XIV., nothing of the jewellery of his queen Marie Therese. Parts of the sapphire-set: http://skd-online-collection.skd.museum/en/contents/searchList?page=1&filter[textSearch]=Saphirgarnitur&sort=fav rapiers of several sets: http://skd-online-collection.skd.museum/de/contents/artexplorer?filter[OBJEKTART]=Degen Hat-aigrettes: http://skd-online-collection.skd.museum/en/contents/artexplorer?filter[OBJEKTART]=Hutagraffe the queen´s bow-brooch, weight 556g (!) http://skd-online-collection.skd.museum/de/contents/showSearch?id=117439 For not german speaking members: for searching at the online collection of SKD give in "diamantrosengarnitur", "rubingarnitur" and so on. --Previous Message-- : I really never saw this ! : : I was already so impressed at Rosenborg : Castle but King Auguste Le Fort of Saxe's : diamonds , emeralds etc..are the biggest : jewels collection of the world : Alas no autorisation for pictures and at the : Museum Shop no postcarde of the jewels. : Could someone share my impression and post : pictures? thanks MO :
