Queen Alexandra's jewelled crosses Archived Message

Queen Alexandra had at least 3 jeweled crosses.

We are all familiar with the Dagmar necklace. The cross was detachable and the Queen was photographed wearing it separately

as well as when she wore the necklace (for example as a stomacher on her coronation dress)

For her silver wedding anniversary her husband gave her a ruby and diamond cross, although I have never seen a photograph of her wearing it.

Sketch from the Illustrated London News

The third was a wedding gift from the ladies of Liverpool.

    The Times described it as

While the Illustrated London News gave this description

    and provided this sketch

From time to time the media reported her wearing it at either Courts or Drawing Rooms and in some instances specifically noted it as the Liverpool cross although from the description of her jewels I gained the impression it was as a pendant to a diamond necklace.

The only photo I have where I think Queen Alexandra is wearing the Liverpool gift is from 1871 where she was dressed for a fancy dress ball.

Is anything known about what looks like a necklace at the Queen's waist? And the jewels down the front of her skirt?
