Thank you very much, Stig, for pointing out this exhibition, and this teasing by Her Majesty herself! As a side note: the facial expression of the Queen when she gest interrupted by the ringing of the clock is absolutely priceless! This pair of bracelets has been lent by Queen Margrethe to the Museum of the Palace of Malmaison, near Paris (the private home of Empress Josephine) in 2011-2012: The bracelets were commissioned by Empress Josephine from the Crown jeweller François-Regnault Nitot. They were bequeathed to Joséphine's son, Eugène de Beauharnais, who gave them later to his daughters Josephine, Queen of Sweden, and Amelia, Empress of Brazil. They were later presented to Princess Louise of Sweden when she married Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (later King Frederik VIII). As explained by the Queen, the stones of the bracelets spell, through the first letter of each stone, the names of Empress Joséphine's two children: - Hessonite, Opal, Ruby, Turquoise, Emerald, Nicolo, Sapphire, Emerald for her daughter Hortense - Emerald, Uniaxe, Garnet, Emerald, Nicolo, Emerald for her son Eugène. It would be interesting to spot pictures of Queen Ingrid (or of other previous Danish Queens wearing these bracelets).
