Princess Caroline Mathilde of Denmark owned a nice collection of jewels, which is fortunately still seen now and then when worn by her daughter Princess Elizabeth and her daughters-in-law Countess Sussie and the late Countess Anne Dorte.
As the granddaughter of King Frederik VIII, the daughter-in-law of King Christian X, the sister-in-law of King Frederik Ix and the aunt of Queen Margrethe II Princess Caroline Mathilde was a princess of Denmark both by birth and by marriage.
She owned three major tiaras as well as some nice pearls, two pairs of earrings - one with sapphires and one with diamonds - and a beautiful bracelet made from a necklace of her mother-in-law Queen Alexandrine. Her russian tiara was left to her by Queen Alexandrine. One sapphire tiara was left to her by har aunt Princess Thyra of Denmark and the other sapphire tiara was made of a bandeau and a long necklace. This last tiara is the least attractive IMO. She also owned a smaller tiara from her mother Princess Helena.
