While looking at photos of Queen Mary during her visit to Australia in 1901 I saw this photo.
I suspect that she is wearing a bracelet on her left wrist, and wonder if the central element could be the brooch with black pearls given to her as a wedding present by Lord and Lady Rothschild. I realise what looks like a bracelet may also be an optical illusion as I cannot see any hint of one in this photo.
