Duchess of Dazzle: How Camilla's amassed a treasure trove of jewels - thanks to Charles and the Saudis
Charles has always been amused by Camilla's connection with his great-great-grandfather's mistress. So much so that with the help of fine jeweller Wartski, the Prince has embarked on a quest to buy up Alice Keppel's jewellery collection.
Charles is said to have paid £100,000 for a diamond tiara (below left) that for years was locked in the safe of a London jeweller.
It had once belonged to Camilla's great- grandmother, Alice Keppel, but had been forgotten. Charles had the diamonds remade into a necklace and earrings for his wife.
