Nellie might be referring to the packaging. My copy arrived in a torn cardboard box. Fortunately, the shrink wrap around the book prevented book damage, though it also dog-eared the corners just slightly. jinja

Mine arrived in a torn UK Amazon box too. Thankfully, the plastic wrap didn't ruin the cover. I wonder why that happened. My Mom also received hers with a torn box. Strange.

I would shed tears if any book at that cost arrived with dog-eared corners. Mine arrived in perfect condition in one of those brilliant cardboard doovers for mailing books. Wrap intact of course. Book Depository. I never use Amazon. Almost to the middle. I think those boxes were not sturdy enough for international shipping, given how roughly things are often handled. Thank goodness my book was not damaged! I would have returned it if it were. jinja

Since your book arrived on time and in perfect condition, Nellie, I am still pondering what could bother you. I have noticed the absence of copyright and publishing date, but who wrote and published the book and when are clear. There are extensive acknowledgments. The only thing I have wished as I read is that every piece of jewelry in pictures of people were identified. Bracelets, brooches, rings, etc. I do like the footnotes at the ends of the sections. So much easier than having to find them in the back of a large book. jinja

The corners of my book are perfect. The very slight wrinkles are on the corners of the cover, and I would probably have produced those myself by now, careful as I am with beautiful books! I will keep Book Depository in mind for the future. jinja

When my book arrived I opened it straight away in the Post Office and found my favourite collar - the Love Trophy. I was expecting a fantatstic b&w HQ photo and was hugely disappointed with the colour illustrations of it. I don't happen to like the colour illustration technique used in the printing of the book. That is all. I am hoping the Love Trophy collar will be in the online exhbition in July and that I will see it then as I was anticipating.

I don't have your trained eye, so at this point, I'm only delighted with the book. If it's any consolation, the illustrations of this particular piece made me fall in love with it.
