I thought that since The GIV diadem is considered part of the Crown Jewels, it can't be taken out of Great Britain. Obviously this hasn't always been the case. Has The Queen ever taken the diadem abroad?

I think there is a distinction between the Crown Jewels(referring to the Coronation Regalia) and an heirloom of the Crown, which is used often in Roberts and introduces a new and useful expression which I like a lot.
Also, I'll be sticking to the current, official name for that head ornament, much and all as I don't like the name. It is a generic term that could apply to many tiaras.
