Stockholm May 1935 Ingrid of Sweden weds CP Frederik of Denmark

Coming across the news saying that the Kokoshnik tiara with diamonds & garnets ordered by Princess Viggo will be auctionned next month in Stockholm (see further down),I want to post again the well-known Ingrid and Frederik pre-wedding group foto. That were old times. Anyone having a better picture of this historical event ? We can see first on the left in the 2nd row Eleanor Princess Viggo, Countess of Rosenborg wearing her Kokoshnik along with what look like two pendant necklaces with garnets. A stunning parure which recalls the danish colors indeed: Some of the tiaras worn on this event are probably lost or lie somewhere in the vaults (the sapphire one on CP Cecilie of Prussia?) but many others still adorned Queens Margrethe of Denmark, Silvia of Sweden and Sonja Norway hairdo plus the other princesses. For the three royal vaults I count : - five tiaras for Denmark including the Rosenborg line - two tiaras for Sweden - three for Norway Let's also mention Queen Astrid nine-prongs-tiara for Belgium and the ruby-laurel-leaf tiara here on Theodora Margravine of Baden (seen last year during the princely wedding Gala in Monaco) . In btw a last tribute to the then Prince Carl Johan of Sweden (sitting on the right of the groom in the red circle) : he was the last surviving of this Royal Gathering. He passed away earlier this month. Radama

Lady Patricia Ramsay wore her own triangular motif tiara and Princess Arthur of Connaught her mother-in-law the Duchess of Connaught fringe tiara, wedding gift from Queen Victoria in 1879. Yes she stands behind the bride, sorry her picture is cropped ... her huge brooch was bequeathed to Queen Mum after her death. I can't say anything about her tiara, it has not been discussed right now Radama

Yes, I can remember that brooch. The Queen Mother, I think wore it during the family photocall for The Queen's Silver Jubilee. Can you make out what shape the tiara is? I can't even make out a shape! My eyes is beginning to give in! Am hoping it's her mother's (Princess Helena) turquoise tiara. We never knew what happened to her parure (except for the brooch, which went to Queen Mary and is now with the Duchess of Gloucester.) As mentioned above, the margravine of Baden, born Theodora of Greece & Denmark. She's wearing the ruby laurel-wreath tiara with matching other pieces (now back with Anne Marie). I had been under the impression that Queen Olga left this ruby set to her grand-daughter, but perhaps she left it to her son Nicholas?

Yes it's Theodora of Greece & Denmark spouse of Maximilian Margrave of Baden : But her ruby-laurel-leaf tiara has nothing to do with Queen Anne Marie 's one. It struck some people at Monaco wedding last year when it reappeared on Margravine Valerie and made wondering if Anne Marie has sold the Greek ruby tiara. Happily this not happened ! The picture is too tiny to identify the necklace & earrings. However I wonder if Theodora wore once again the same (ruby?) earrings pendants three years later at King Gustav V Birthday gala : SarahN did you miss the Monaco princely wedding last year ? Here are some pics of Margrave Max & Margravine Valerie of Baden followed by their son Bernhard with his spouse Stephanie wearing the Baden sunburst tiara. This last one was both their wedding tiara. Yes you 're totally right, it's Pce René de Bourbon-de-Parme standing above his wife Pcess Marguerite or Margrethe of Denmark. One piece of the jewel is now used as brooch by Princess Elisabeth, the other pieces are the bracelet.
