Question: What tiara and necklace and stomacher did Queen Louise of Denmark wear in this August Schiott portrait that is hung on a wall in the Small Drawing Room at Sandringham Estate?
According to the magazine, it's a portrait by August Schiott of "Queen Louise of Denmark, the mother of Princess Alexandra" (who of course would eventually become British Queen Alexandra).
Also, I think the portrait shown in the mirror in that room would be of Denmark's King Christian IX (Louise's husband).

I can identify the riviere and pearl shaped droplets as belonging the crown diamond demi parure.
The stomacher looks to be the ruby, pearl and diamond stomacher which also belongs to the Crown, but I cannot be certain due to lack of clarity.
I used the portrait in my book, and the informations I got from The Royal collection said that Queen Louise is wearing an emerald and diamond tiara which must refer to the one on the Danish crown jewels. The painting is dated 1964 the same year that the Queen got the crown jewels brought to her at Amalienborg from Rosenborg so I think the necklace and earrings must be the well-known diamond demi-parure, while the brooch must be the grand bouquet - both from the crown jewels. So August Schiøtt's is actually the earliest knwn portrait of QL showing her with the crown jewels.
Thanks to RE and Christian. Does anyone have color pictures to show what these jewels look like today? That parure must look lovely (tiara, necklace, pair of earrings, brooch, stomacher, bracelet and ring together).
I do not see youthful pictures of Queen Louise too often. That portrait is lovely.

As Christian said, Queen Louise in the portrait apparently combines the emerald tiara which belongs to the Danish crown jewels with the Danish crown diamonds. I don't know if Queen Margrethe has ever chosen to wear that combination?
Queen Margrethe wearing the emerald tiara:

You were faster than me, Boris Thank you for the pictures...
Here are Otto Baches portrait (Vallø Castle)and Nielsine Petersen's bust (Christiansborg Palace - copies in the royal collections of Norway and Great britain) of an aged Queen Louise wearing the same tiara:
I am puzzled as to which tiara she is wearing in the first photo (Queen's bust)? It surely looks nothing like the emerald tiara which is part of the crown jewels....I see the necklace but defnitely she is wearing tiara that we are not familiar with...or 'original' version perhaps of the emerald tiara?

Thank you Christian for sharing this photo here from your book, which I am patiently waiting for it to be published in English
It is amazing how the jewel size is exaggerated, especially flower corsage/stomacher....

Thanks - I like this portrait by Otto Bache. Off topic, but have you seen the other portraits at Vallø Castle? I wonder if Margrethe is the only Queen depicted with the Vallø Order(?)

Thank you very much, Boris, Christian and Tamara, for these pictures. Queen Louise sure had character in her face, no matter how old she was in any portrait.

Yes - QMII is the only Queen at Vallø depicted with the order. All the other queens are shown in gala - except Queen Ingrid who is painted wearing a white day dress (Hornung).
Did she ever received the Order of the Elephant (plus the Dannebrog badge)?

Thanks. I didn't know that QMII had the Vallø Order before I saw the painting of her.
