Mary Donaldson's engagement ring in Oct. 2003: Last seen on an official event (Feb. 3, 2012 at CIFF) in its original form: The family went to Verbier for a ski holiday in mid-February. On Princess Mary's trip to Washington, DC on Feb. 27, 2012, her engagement ring had two additional emerald-cut diamonds on either side of the rubies. Sorry, I don't have an HQ photos to post. The DC trip was in 2012, not 2007 right? I was confused for a minute, thinking she had switched back and forth.

I really like the new look of Princess Mary's engagement ring. (Her wedding ring is similar to an eternity ring.) Now she has one stone for her husband and four for her children, in her ruby and diamond ring. jinja

I've been wondering if the additional diamonds are her engagement earrings which were emerald-cut diamonds. She hasn't worn those in quite awhile. Perhaps the new ring reflects her family now: Frederik as the center stone and then all her children - 2 rubies for the girls and 2 diamonds for the boys. I immediately thought of the children. It possibly does reflect her family. Great idea. Always thought her wedding band was unusual but it all goes together very well.

I don't believe it's an heirloom. The ruby and diamond of course symbolize the Danish flag.
