I´ve never seen before. Is this one of so many made in the 19th century or is something known of it? The price rose very high over the estimation.

Lovely, thanks! It doens't mention the provenance, only states Munn's book for reference to a similar piece. No information also as if it can be put on a frame and turned into a tiara. Perhaps it can, depends on its flexibility. Anyway congratulations to the person who bought it, specially if it can be converted in tiara also, I find fringes timeless pieces that match well with most all of classical jewels.

I sometimes think that the full history of an important auction item is kept confidential and revealed in full only to the buyer.

Yes, but I think to the potential serious buyers in contact to the auction house. In this case the auctioneer speculate to a higher price that the official estimation. Risky. Regarding to the estimation this is not a very important piece with a view of value of stones, manufacturing and market (and in danger to end dismantled), but maybe the little 'various properties' save it. By the way: 35 cm long seems to me very short. Too short to wear comfortable in full circle around the neck. But way enough to wear on the head.
