I will be posting few old glittering photos every few days until I run out lol.... I hope those closeups can trigger very interesting conversations...so enjoy oh and please do not hotlink my photobucket account...kindly save the photos to your PC or Mac...which is fine with me... Thanks
Meantime, here is the first photo from the series..
I have never seen the brooch on Queen Juliana...it is an anchor incrusted with diamonds and two large substantial stones (Sapphire and diamond) on either side...quite interesting..
That was an interesting picture to show the interaction between the Queen Mother and Queen Juliana.
I will be eager to see your next "old glittering" pictures, Tamara!

I love Juliana's old-fashioned handbag in this photo . My grandmother had one like that for going to church. I use it now as a photo-frame....

Tamara’s topic made me think of some of this past grandeur
Poltimore...

Oh the Poltimore tiara... One of my very favourites... Sadly not expected to be seen again after being sold in the auction made after Pss Margareth's death. I find it very impressive in style and size, beautiful and regal. It was also very convertible, it could be dismounted in several brooches, and all the elements could be suspended on a chain and worn as a necklace with multiple combinations to the owner's taste. A fabulous piece...

These shots give us some good angles to enjoy the Poltimore. Note also that Princess Margaret is wearing two diamond rivières.

The diamond and sapphire anchor brooch was first seen on the young Queen Emma. It was most probably a gift from her husband Willem III. The last time this brooch was seen was on 29 May 1998 when (then) Princess Juliana wore it at the civil wedding of Prince Maurits and Marilène.
It is a pity we do not see it more often!
