Crown princess Martha did not wear any of Queen Maud's tiaras as far as we know. |
She did wear several other pieces, among them this diamond brooch:
: I have always been under the impression that
: the elaborate diamond earrings worn by Queen
: Sonja (normally with the grand diamond
: tiara) came from Queen Alexandra, originally
: being pendant drops QA used on her
: In his article on the so called Malteser
: tiara Trond Noren Isaksen says that Queen
: Maud took her jewellery with her to England
: in 1938 and that after her death it remained
: at Windsor Castle until the time of the 1953
: coronation. Although Isaksen does not list
: the jewels taken to England, I got the
: impression it was most of Queen Maud's grand
: Today I discovered 2 photos of Crown
: Princess Martha wearing the earrings prior
: to her death. I don't have a date for the
: first photo
: but this photo where she appears to be
: wearing the earrings was taken in 1950.
: Can anyone shed any light on the mystery?
