Found this picture! Is Tatiana Radziwiłł wearing the Queen Sofia star tiara now belonging to Princess Benedicte of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg? The picture is taken at an occation in Copenhagen I think.

Previous Message It's a picture from 21 November 1964, where Greek and Danish royals attended the wedding of Dorrit Caroline Bech and Konstantinos Kombokis at Kirke Stillinge church in Denmark. The bride had been a lady-in-waiting to Princess Benedikte and Princess Anne-Marie, and the groom was King Constantine's adjutant. Here is another picture from the wedding. The man next to Princess Benedikte is the bride's brother August Villads Bech, who later married Countess Agnes Elisabeth Krag-Juel-Vind-Frijs.

Wouldn’t Tatiana have had use of her mother Princess Eugenie’s tiara? Or would it have been sold by this period? Didn’t Tatiana have a very modest diamond bandeau of her own, that I think I recall seeing? Previous Message I am not sure the centre star is sitting lover now... [img] [/img]

It seems like Queen Sofia did wear the tiara with the centre star sitting higher. So it must have been altered at some point either by Queen Ingrid (who is the next one pictured wearing the tiara) or Queen Victoria of Sweden (who is described as potentially wearing this tiara in an article). I think it is odd that the centre star was shortened because the tiara lost its focal point, but probably it was done before it was inherited by Ingrid. Previous Message I thought you meant from when Tatiana Radziwill wore it to now... To me the middle star is now sitting in a more balanced height compared to before Queen Ingrid received it.

I don't have my books with me to try to answer that question. I do recall, however, that Princess Benedikte said she wears the tiara infrequently now because it has become so fragile. Previous Message Maybe Eugenie didn't want her daughter traveling with a nice tiara? When this wedding took place, Tatiana had been staying one month with the Danish royal family at Fredensborg (I don't know how long she stayed in Denmark after the wedding). Maybe her mother couldn't do without her tiara for so long - maybe the wedding invitation came only after Tatiana had arrived to Denmark - or maybe Queen Ingrid just thought it would be more practical to lend her a tiara so that she didn't have to bring her own.
