Duchess of Kent

On the anniversary of her death (yesterday?) I'd like to mention this lovely princess. She had one of the best collection of jewels in the British royal family. Her sister Olga was responsible for the elevation of Cecil Beaton to Royal Photographer status, and he took many gorgeous photos of these gorgeous princesses.

My favrouite piece is probably the bow brooch that Nicholas II gave her mother Helen as a wedding present.

I believe the 1937 coronation photo (b/w, first one) was by a woman. All the others in the link you provided were by Beaton.

I have a copy of the Beaton "Royal Portraits" book. The photos range from the 30s to the 60s --bookended (so to speak) by Kents. Gorgeous! Swelligant!

I always love viewing your library of photos. Marina was just elegance and class through and through. She was Swelligant (ala High Society)
