I am still catching my breath, I literally lost count at all the tiaras in Amman tonight. Absolutely stunning!

Loved all jordanian royal ladies tiaras. Some I don't remember ever seing before, like the fabulous tiaras of Pss Muna, Pss Rhym and Pss Alia, and also the huge amethysts of Pss Sarvath.
I will definetely have to watch the video again and make a list.

To me the highlight among the guests' jewels was seeing Princess Beatrice in the York tiara. So good to see it again after all these years it has been out of sight.

It was a lovely surprise to see this unexpected tiara-event.

Princess Iman wore her new tiara as did the new crown princess. Great to see Beatrice in her mother's tiara and so many different tiaras.

Im pleasantly surprised how well the quite large ruby Peacock tiara works on the Princess of Orange. I cannot wait to see her in more of the bigger pieces of the collection.

I loved seeing The Duchess of Brabant in her whopper tiara, The Princess of Orange in the ruby peacock tiara, and Princess Beatrice in her mother’s tiara. Was The Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein wearing the Kinsky?
Loved seeing The Empress Farah again, but did notice they announced her as ‘Majesty’ and not as ‘Imperial Majesty’.

Could it be that King Charles sent her out to Amman on a trial run, to gauge public opinion of her and see how well she mixes with diplomats and the Gotha? Perhaps Charles (and William) realize that the Kents and Gloucesters are aging and more help will be needed with royal engagements. Heaven knows the York girls would be enthusiastic for that.

I agree this is a much better look for her. the style of the dress, the jewels and the hair look really good. The first event was mainly an emotional choice for her mother's wedding diadem. The dress in bright pink had a young colour but looked in style a bit mature on her. This dress is definitely more in her style. Like the green dress she wore for Prinsjesdag it is a bit more romantic in style. It was good to see her gaining in confidence while being on show like this.

If she already looks this good in the Peacock diadem it will be fabulous to see her in the sapphire or the ornate pearl diadems.

The Princess of Orange looked very regal indeed! And I must agree that her hair was much better last night than what it was in Oslo. The Peacock tiara really suits her and hopefully we will get to see her more in that in the years to come.

I also just wanted to say that she did a lovely curtsy to the King (and I suspect to the Queen also though the moment she greeted the Queen of Jordan was not visible in the footage I saw)

Wouldn't that just be wonderful!? It would be great to see the York Princesses attending more of these events, both abroad but also at home. Though I "fear" that she had been invited as a good friend rather than a representative of the British Royal Family. She looked stunning no matter what the reason for her being there and I so wish we could see her more in tiaras. I am not always impressed by her choice of clothes, but yesterday - in my opinion - she nailed it!

The Duchess of Brabant looked beautiful. It was nice to get a better view of her new tiara. I really liked the dresses she chose for the event. But the footage did show something that surprises me a bit. Like her mother Elisabeth is a bit awkward in her movements. I remember reading in a biography of Queen Astrid by her friend Anna Sparre that the queen as a Swedish princess had deportment lessons. I think both Elisabeth and her mother would shine more if they took some of those lessons. They are both very good looking women and i don't think it's a lack in confidence, or at least not with Mathilde.

Anna Sparre also revealed that the Swedish princesses maintained a tradition started by their ancestress the Empress Josephine. Because Napoleon apparently did not like to see his wife eat (or she was embarrassed by her teeth but that is my guess) she ate before a formal dinner so she could focus on the conversation and not the food. The Swedish princesses in the 1920's and '30's ate plates of pasta before official dinners.

Queen Noor does not appear to have been present, nor were her eldest son Prince Hamzah and his wife Princess Basmah al-Hamzah.

Among Queen Noor’s other children,, her other son Prince Hashim and wife Princess Fahdah al-Hashim were present, as was daughter Princess Raiyah with husband. I am uncertain about the last sibling Princess Iman.

I agree. The necklace is fabulous, the current bandeau created out of the braceltes is a disaster. Surely a jeweller could come up with a better frame to give it some height and a better shape. Perhaps some elements from the necklace could be added to give it more substance.

The Duchess looked stunning. And although I typically prefer to see a tiara worn upright as much as possible, in this case I would like to see her wearing this tiara a bit wider and titled back because its quite high and narrow. I have a feeling it would look better on her.

Im not sure there is a tradition. I do know Queen Fabiola never wore an order. Paola did both as princess of Liege and as Queen. So Mathilde is certainly not the first. Paola wore orders from Spain, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands to name a few i could simply get images of on google.

Queen Fabiola never wanted to wear a Sash , she said it was for the King. A lot of diplomatic incidents happened .
Queen Paola never wore the Leopold order , but foreign Orders .

ADuring the Reign of King Baudoun, The Belgian Sash for Ladies was very large. Queen Paola asked smaller belgian Sashes of the Order of Leopold , but she never wore it.
Mathilde and Elisabeth are wearing our Greatest Order perfectly.

Queen Sofia has three children and as the Prussian tiara already was worn by the current queen and her daughters but this set has only been worn by HM im guessing it's one of these heirlooms that will not go to her son Felipe VI and his daughters.
I would not be surprised to see these rubies go to either Elena or Christina.

The new crown princess of Jordan is a wealthy woman in her own right. She may not have received the jewels from either her parents or those of her husband, she could very well have bought the pieces herself.

Or ... she could follow the Danish and Dutch examples and have the long rubi sautoir divided and given to her daughters and grand-daughters.

The rubi sautoir is long enough to provide for several necklaces and bracelets,
and in fact she has worn diferent lenght necklaces, tiaras, and also a bracelet, over the years. A jeweler could also obtain diferent pairs of earrings or even brooches from it. It is a very versatile piece of jewelry.

I doubt that the entire piece will one day be inherited only by one of her children.

Do you honestly believe she actually earned her private wealth working as an architect? She's related to the extended royal family of SA. If she has money, it came from her family. It's more likely that her daddy or mummy bought it for her or perhaps cousin MBS.

Niarchos Rubies

Queen Sofia is the mother of three children and has been a very dedicated queen. She has as expected already handed over the the Joyas de Pasar to the new queen. At the same time she has shared several of the pieces gifted to her by both her own family and that of her husband with her two daughters and her daughter-in-law, the current Queen. Those pieces are most likely to remain with Felipe's line. The Niarchos rubies have not been worn by anyone other than Sofia. If she was to split that set up to provide something for her two daughters there would be no reason to complain or make any judgements. The bulk of her jewels would still go to the main line, or possibly more precise seems to have gone there already.

I agree that most of the Spanish royal jewels are in diamonds or diamonds and pearls but that is the way it is. By leaving several of the pieces gifted to her to the main line Sofia already contributes to that collection. That the collection could do with some coloured stones might be something the current monarch and his heiress might think about. Though i doubt they will give it much thought.

Its a strong possibility that several members of her family will receive parts of the Niarchos rubi sautoir in the future. It would be a lovely token from the Queen, this is certainly a favourite jewel of hers since she received it.

Queen Letizia already wore most of the sets worn previously by Queen Sofia (the emerald set, saphires, turquoises ...) but never the rubis.

Of all the Queen's descent, Pss Leonor, as a future Queen of Spain, is the only one who could have the oportunities to wear this piece in its multiple possibilities. The infantas (and their families) would probably auction it some time in the future ...

Yes, I do agree these jewels would be a great adition to the royal family's "Joyas de pasar", wich led me to yet another possibility: as Queen Ena did in the past in her will, Queen Sofia could "add" her rubis to the Joyas de Pasar. That would be terrific.

Has Queen Sofia ever worn the rubi necklace(s) with the Ansorena Tiara? I cant remember ever seing it. It would look splendid.

I still think a better designed bandeau/tiara made from this magnificent ruby set would create a truly versatile parure for generations to come. If Sofia wanted to she could even give her daughters and granddaughters one of the larger ruby clusters as a brooch or two smaller ones as earrings. There are plenty of elements in this set. All that is needed here is a bit of creative and forward thinking

. As you mentioned, Sofia could pass the remainder of the (demi) parure on as Royas de Pasar after her death.

John R I was of course talking about the Fleurs de Lys tiara, as the modern one was never worn by Queen Sofia. It was a gift to the then Pss Letizia, and she wore it only once I believe, already as Queen of Spain, in Denmark.

I was referring to the fact that I've never seen a picture of Queen Sofia wearing at the same time the Fleurs de Lys tiara (that she wore countless times with many diferent sets of necklaces, earrings ...) and the Niarchos rubis in any of its possible options.

Which one? The Fleurs de Lyls tiara of Queen Ena or the modern one created for Queen Letizia?
