Slightly obscure, but I was looking at museums in Havana and came upon the Museo des Artes Decorativo which is housed in a spectacular mansion that once belonged to a Countess.
I am curious to know more about these jewels and what happened to them.....especially the tiara. She was apparently friends with the Duchess of Windsor. Her name was María Luisa Gómez Mena la Condesa de Revilla de Camargo. I had no idea there was nobility in Cuba!

How interesting! I went to Wikipedia, and behold! An entire article on Cuban nobility!

Thanks, Andrew & Cynthia. Did you see this article? I love the anecdote about the Countess going to Givenchy's studio, her maids carrying plastic bags with precious jewels to save them from being stolen.

I believe the late musician, actor, and producer was a male-line descendant of one of those Cuban noble families. After the revolution his branch of the family lost everything and they fled to Miami.
