Those who have been regretting the low-key appearance of Crown Princess Mary's Victorian tiaras will be pleased, at least about the jewel implications. Queen Margrethe seems beloved by all and has been a wise, benevolent, and judicious queen. Previous Message We just heard the Abdication of Queen Margrethe II. Will the new Queen have all her jewels. She will have the emerald parure and the other Parures from the Crown jewels at Rosenborg and also the pearl-poire tiara and its matching Set as the are for the Queen. What will hapen to the other privately owned Jewels of Queen Margrethe we will have to wait and see what is handed over Previous Message We just heard the Abdication of Queen Margrethe II. Perhaps Margrethe, as Queen Emerita, will follow the example of Queen Paola and never wear grand jewels again. In which case, I would expect the turquoise floral tiara, the Baden Palmette, and the floral aigrette to be part of the collection of Queen Mary. And I also think Princess Isabel’s first future tiara appearance will be a modest tiara like the turquoise, or her mother’s wedding tiara without pearls. By stepping down the new Queen will have use of the Danish crown jewels (the emerald parure, the diamond parure and the pearl and ruby demi-parure) as well as of the Pearl Poire set. That gives Mary more than enough pieces if you add her own tiara's to it. The smaller ones no doubt will be shared with her daughters in the years to come. Queen Margrethe keeps her Baden Palmette, the small turquoise bandeau and the poppies. That piece is not very flattering for her hair- and skin-tone just like the Nassut Tiara (im guessing that one might also go to Mary but im not sure). If the story that Margrethe bought her grandmother's sapphire tiara from her cousins is true she'd have a third very wearable tiara to go with her sapphire demi-parure. I do hope she'll continue to attend gala-events like the New Year's banquet and it would be lovely to see her wearing a tiara as always. My favourites would be the Baden Palmette and the Russian Sapphire tiara. Both are historic and valuable pieces making them suitable for a Queen. Countess Anne Dorte tiara was sold 2.000.000 DKK . A Dane bought it and lend it for the Exhibition. I saw the Auction in live the tiara was sold at its estimation price. @Stig - seems like someone has some inside knowledge? Anyway, I would not think that The Queen would have had the money to buy it. My guess would be that someone close to the Royal House could have bought it. As belgian I bought Bjarne Steen Jensen's book when I was in Denmark. I enjoy having it. Why a updated version ? We know that: 1) Countess Alexandra kept her Wedding tiara. Princess Mary and Marie received a diamond sapphire Brooch for their first born and that Crown Princess Mary wears Queen Ingrid's tiara. 2) The Rosenborg Countesses sold their Mother and their Aunt Elisabeth tiaras at Bruun Rasmussen Auction house. They kept their small tiaras Princess Elisabeth gave to the Royal Danish Collection Rosenborg Castle her Fabergé Brooch gift from the Russian Tsar and her miniatur Bracelet. Nothing to the main House. Now we have to wait if Count Ingolf will give the fringe tiara and the meander bracelet to his nieces or to the main Branch?. I think that the Count will give his nieces all his jewels and that the fringe will be sold together with the meander. and a very good queastion I love the book, its good as it is also. but if i can think about some things I am thinking in a few years time when Mary has worn a few of the items what tiara did she wear at her first official portrait (having queen silvias grand portrait with the Braganza Tiara in mind) the book is from 2001 What jewllery have Queen Margrethe given up for Mary Mary did some changes to the Ruby Parure Tiara Marie now wears a tiara Isabelle has worn her first tiara, maybe also Josephine The new tiaras in the family not historic yet but in a few generation they may be. Also a few other jewllery items can be added or told about when they first was worn by a royal member Theodora wore the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau Can one see if there is a difference in wearing some of the jewllery as born royal or as a mariied in royal. This is a very interesting question. I have read an interview with the Count and his wife in which they mention that everything is settled for the Count’s passing. And that is has been agreed by the couple which items that will return to the Royal House. I hope for the fringe tiara. my guess is for her first official portrait as Queen of Denmark, Mary will opt for the Pearl Poire tiara. I think it’s going to look amazing on her dark hair. My question is whether she will still wear the smaller jewelled frame (that she currently has for Queen Margrethe’s Family Order) for the Family Order of Frederick X, or will Queen Margrethe hand over the large grand frame she currently wears and which her mother wore. Likewise, the large jeweled insignia of The Order of Dannebord. It depends on when new official portraits are taken. It will take some time to get a new portrait of her husband painted for the big frame. I think Queen Margrethe will then wear her mother’s ‘dower’ frame (that has a portrait of Frederik IX). The crosses of Prince Henrik and King Constantine are available. If Constantine’s has not been given to Queen Anne-Marie? So I think the new Queen will wear her father in law’s grand commander cross. But that also needs a new cipher with Frederik X to replace that of Margrethe II.
