Teri and I paid a late visit this afternoon to a special spot on the upper Rogue River. I hooked up one big buck steelhead after about 20 minutes of searching the water. This fish was a real test for the new large arbor flyreel. With about three leaps the mean buck steelhead took me way into the backing. When it became time to recover line the reel pulled it in quickly. I was also quite happy with the working of the drag. Teri snapped some nice photos. Here are just a few...

Looks like he took the bottom dropper fly...a Flashback G.R. Hare's Ear nymph.
This was one very bright and large hatchery smolt.
Teri enjoys the sunset over the Table Rocks. She also enjoyed trying out the switch rod with the new reel....
