With enough fish into it to make it interesting now. It doesn't look like the rain forecast for this weekend is going to happen. So that means the Rogue River is going to get into good shape for winter steelhead fishing the remainder of March.
Yesterday, I caught a steelhead on my very first cast. This is not the first time that has happened to me, but it was certainly welcome after a winter of nearly 10,000 cast. Chrome bright steelhead really put on some moves too. They are hot in the high and heavy water of the Rogue.
A recent visit to a nearby Rogue tributary proved disappointing. There's not going to be enough water over there this year before the end of March barring a major rain event. And that is just not going to happen. So stay fixed on the Rogue River for good late winter steelhead action.

Pretty but not enough water for steelheading.
