The Spring steelhead are still arriving on the upper Rogue. The count has gone over 5,000. It's not gang-busters...and not a good Winter fish count for the record...and hardly worth the effort now since they are so much on the spawn. Amazing thing I heard was that even with the temporary blockage of the river at the Savage Rapids Dam removal project, the Spring Chinook were still finding a way to get past the blockage and coffer dam. Seems they have been able to get/squeeze through an amazingly high, dense, flow area. Amazing fish. Also makes me wonder "just how much of an actual fish killer the old Savage Rapids Dam actually was?
