The steelhead count continues to rise a bit. The totals are something over 5,000. I checked a local stretch around Medford yesterday for morels and steelhead. I even cast a bit for Spring chinook. The fishing remains slow. The trout are not even nipping at the smaller G.R.Hare's Ear dropper flies. As for the yellow morels, I did find seven or eight. Even with the rain in the upper Bear Creek area of the Rogue Valley, the dirt of the Agate Desert region of White City/Medford remains dry. The morels that I found were just the last hurrah of the early flush that Teri and I picked about a week ago. We enjoyed yesterday's morels for dinner stuffed with lean, ground venison...
