Teri and I fished a high Cascades creek over the opening weekend of the trout season. Solboater...you'll know the one!
I've always wanted to hike into this little gem. It is pretty wild country back in there. We encountered plenty of snow, even though these photos will not show any of it.
We located quite a few areas that may hold the black morel mushroom later in the Spring. At long last we found a way to get down to the little creek which was fairly shrouded with trees and brush.

The cold water flowed swift and high. The creek was a lot harder to fish than I had anticipated, with its bankside tangle of brush, trees and limbs hindering access and casting. The high flow also limited where the trout would be. I found a few though and was frustrated by their tentative bite. I missed hooking a lot more than I care to admit. I think the timing is a bit early. I'll be heading back for another try in a couple weeks.
