A late afternoon visit to the Rogue River near Medford hooked me up with this beautiful Rogue Fall steelhead. I was swinging a Silver Heron fly through the top of a shallow riffling run.
He struck slow and deceptive in the cold water of the late afternoon. I slip-struck the fly to hook him solidly. Even in the cold water of early November the fish took to the air twice on the initial run.
This fish remain strong in the cold water of the upper Rogue. I guess that's what you like about them. There's always a lot more at the Rogue River Blog.
