Who would have been playing rock'n'roll on the radio in Toronto prior to May 1957? I am honestly curious.
Can't imagine CFRB devoting any air time to any teen oriented rock shows, like Hamilton's CHML did in the 50's. Nor CKEY or CKFH.
Was Buffalo's 1400 WBNY audible to many people north of Lake Ontario? WKBW didn't go full time Top 40 til 1958. WABC and WLS didn't go Top 40 til about 1960 and you couldn't get New York's 1010 WINS of 1050 WMGM because of CFRB and CHUM on the same frequencies. Even CBC's AM860 would have crushed Cleveland's WJW 850.
I was as student of Phil Stone in the early 80's, we were told he worked at CHUM in the early years of rock, but that was about it. I wish I would have known more, I would have paid better attention and asked a lot more questions.
