It's amazing how many people lay claim to playing the first "Beatles" record on Canadian radio.
I know little CKOV in Kelowna was among the first.
A "Beatles" 45 arrived by post from Great Britain, received by our copy chief at the time, Mark Ackerman from one of his mates back home.
The only problem was, it came in about four or five pieces.
We painstakingly put it back together with good old Scotch tape, enabling us to play each side once and transfer the tunes onto carts.
We played the heck out of them and I remember the Capitol Records rep asked us where we got the disc and wanted us to stop playing it until the North American release was made.
Needless to say, we kept playing it.
For the life of me, I can't remember the two tunes but they were early "Beatles" North American hits a couple of weeks later.
