In the '70s, when the CanCon regs were introduced there was so much confusion on the CanCon status of recordings. The CRTC files had the status wrong on so many records through all decades for years.
So who is to blame for The Five Canadians and Jackie Shane getting on the 'Made In Canada' discs?
Also on the confusion issue, I was always amused (even at 13 years old) when Columbia Records released Linda and Paul McCartney's 'Suzie & The Redstripes' side project song "Seaside Woman" as 100% CanCon. I've still got my 7" singles featuring label copy *with* the MAPL logo and without.
