Couldn't agree more with Dial Twister. Other than Liza Fromer, what, exactly, is new here? Shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic.
Remember this CP story from August 27th and this famous remark from Sherry O'Neil, "general manager of the Toronto cluster of Astral Media" after the station laid off 12 people in a single day?
"She adds the move had nothing to do with the economy and that any money saved will be put back into the station."
Nothing to do with the economy? As far as I can see the only obvious add is Fromer. What happened to those other people (especially the producers and behind the scenes types) they let go? I didn't hear anyone has been hired in their place.
Let's face it - this "restructuring" (as they odiously called it) is all about saving money and saving face as ratings tank.
Not about the economy? More like not about the truth.
The new Newstalk 1010 sounds suspiciously like the old Newstalk 1010. Except with a lot fewer employees.
