It happens. Sometimes even on a grand scale.
The "Hagersville Tire Fire" that happened 1990 actually happened in the Town of Nanticoke.
Nanticoke and Hagersville aren't even in the same county.
Hagersville played a very, very minor role in the fire, providing back-up to Nanticoke firefighters, with the overall fire fighting command eventually taken over by the Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario, with assistance from Ministry of Natural Resources air bombers.
(I was there one day to see them in action! ...Normally water bombers aren't dropping a 100 feet away from you. ...Pinned the tail right on the donkey's ass every time, they did!)
...Sometimes a nearby landmark becomes a focal point and is linked solidly with a story that doesn't really belong to them.
