Both Entercom corporate in Philadelphia and Entercom Sacramento LLC were found negligent in the January 12, 2007 water intoxication death of 28-year-old mother of three Jennifer Lea Strange. Entercom’s attorneys argued in part that the parent shouldn’t be legally responsible, but the 7-man, 5-woman jury found liability both places. Attorneys for widower Billy Strange asked for economic and non-economic damages of $34 million to as much as $44.3 million, says the Sacramento Bee’s Andy Furillo. In its defense, Entercom’s “End” KDND (107.9) introduced two of the other contestants for the video game system, who bailed out earlier. The Strange family attorneys used audio tape of the former morning show’s ad libs, and argued that KDND’s talent and management acted negligently – and after several days of deliberations, the jury agreed. No immediate comment from Entercom, or word on whether it might appeal the amount of the verdict.
