I'm sorry... just listening to his excuse (amid the clapping from all the other hosts they brought into the studio for no reason), and he says his show (paraphrasing here): "It's not going to be a call-in show, but it will have callers. It's not going to be an interview show, but it will have guests." Ummmm, sorry Bill. That means it will be a call-in show and a guest-driven show. They did a poor job at explaining why Bill lost his morning show gig. People are going to believe that Bill turned down a "gig" in L.A. to do midday radio in Canada? Please.

Well he knew he was out of excuses. Woloshyn outed the "spend more time with the wife and kids" excuse and I think this board when through every single way that Billy could spin the story in his favour. Face it Bill, you didn't get the ratings and you were demoted!

Bill's an ass. I loved Jim Richards kicking Bill in the ass with "About six months ago I was offered a show in L.A. but turned it down..." Too funny! I do like John and Tarek in the morning. Not sure about Liza. I never liked her on BT.

Sorry, Tarek should not have a role in talk radio beyond informed guest. It's hard to listen to him for an extended period of time.

he didn't even try the wife and kids thing...then he tells us they are going to syndicate the show accross the country...(good, even fewer jobs for radio folks and less local content)....then they say well actually we hope to syndicate it....well I am going to win the 6 49 tonight...we actually I am hoping to....but how new is this CFRB?...shuffling the chairs except for new boy Tory...we'll see, but my guess is not much will change

Same story that's happening everywhere. Slash costs; reduce staff; whittle it all down. The Interns are in charge. Mike Bendixen - from CFRB intern to Newstalk 1010 PD (with a side trip to Montreal). Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss. After all the slashing and burning at CJAD and CFRB, the bosses just switched places for awhile until tempers cool.

Liza Fromer? Craptastic! My ears are bleeding and she hasn't even begun working yet! This whole switcheroo is bonkers. Even those in the Star's comments section seem to agree that they'd vote Tory in as mayor, but he's not all that great to listen to. Tell me... do they even poll the public anymore? Focus groups? Or do they just do what they want to and the listeners be damned?

As long as Liza doesn't laugh too much, she's alright . It took me awhile to warm up to her on BT, but she was a breath of fresh air after suffering with Ann Rohmer for all those years... And I like Tarek - where people laud John Moore for an intellectualism that I fail to see (constantly referencing the same handful of literary/cinematic/historical sources gets dry very quickly), I appreciate Tarek's intelligence and candor. Moore is far less open - rather aloof in my opinion. I imagine the morning show format will make that far less evident as he must interact with so many others. And hey! When Coren and Tarek started, they said they might go to lunch with a listener that provided a new name for "The Two Bald Guys!" I offered "Fat & Fatah - can anybody top that? All water under the bridge now i suppose! (I joke because I love…)

Couldn't agree more with Dial Twister. Other than Liza Fromer, what, exactly, is new here? Shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic. Remember this CP story from August 27th and this famous remark from Sherry O'Neil, "general manager of the Toronto cluster of Astral Media" after the station laid off 12 people in a single day? "She adds the move had nothing to do with the economy and that any money saved will be put back into the station." Nothing to do with the economy? As far as I can see the only obvious add is Fromer. What happened to those other people (especially the producers and behind the scenes types) they let go? I didn't hear anyone has been hired in their place. Let's face it - this "restructuring" (as they odiously called it) is all about saving money and saving face as ratings tank. Not about the economy? More like not about the truth. The new Newstalk 1010 sounds suspiciously like the old Newstalk 1010. Except with a lot fewer employees.

actually when you do the math they add no one...don't forget Jim Richards (one guy) is replacing the Motts (two people), it doesn't sound like Coren is being replaced...and it sounds to me that Frommer is just replacing Jackie whatsername...so I guess the salary bill is waaaaaay down...unless of course they are matching the CEO level salary Tory made when he was boss man at Rogers
