I just got off the phone with a tech rep who actually knew what she was talking about, dealing with the recurring problem of the wrong feed showing up on Channel 200, Rogers 3 (should be BN, regularly switches to the Ontario Legislature). During the conversation, I mentioned the poor quality and heavy compression on AMC and she said they were aware of it and that it came in that way from the US, and that there were many complaints.

Most times the compression issues are due to the content provider. When CHCH was sold to Channel Zero and they switched over to Channel Zero's master control from Global, I think they tried to do it cheep and feed Rogers with one fiber HD signal and down convert for Standard Def. It looked and sounded horrible. I also notice this on the Weather Network. They must have downgraded the fiber connection for the GTA feed, cause it looks really bad at times.
