I used to run home to watch his show on CFTO at 12:30 PM every weekday. He was a true pioneer and his shows were classics, with his constant ad libbing and the crew cracking up audibly in the background. Too bad most of the programs were erased by short-sighted idiots at Metromedia, who owned WNEW at the time. He was also on WNBC Radio in 1985. I have a 'best of' VHS tape of his show I found in a clearance bin when Sam's went under. I tried recently to convert it to DVD but the only VCR I have mistracks it so bad, and can't be made to adjust better, that it is almost unwatchable. I too remember rushing home to 'see' White Fang and Blacktooth. I have seen the YouTube clips. Brings back great memories. That was a show, like a few others, that as a kid you really only picked up so much on what was happening or being said. Heck, even Alice Cooper made an appearance in full costume.

soupy was no stranger to the "double meaning" when joking around during his kids show. apparently the crew liked to take it one step further. the linked clip is proof. the first part of the clip shows what was being aired. the second part "focuses" on camera 2 which was for in-house eyes only. wild and wacky stuff.zoom in on camera 2
