There seems to be a shortage of Halloween music on the radio this year, and sadly, one less website to go to this year. http://halloweenradio.com/ At least CBC radio 1 is sounding good with their Halloween show. Good for them. Nice to know at least someone cares to play Halloween music. I am surprised that no one has thought to either procuce a cover tune recently, or come up with something new for Halloween 2009. When was the last Halloween song recorded anyway?

I read about this Hallowe'en mashup in the Star today. 10. ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN VS. Looking for something different to watch, we pulled one of those $1 DVDs off the shelf (we keep picking them up at Dollar Tree stores in the States) and ran a double bill of Carnival Of Souls and Circus Of Fear. Loved Carnival, still haven't figured what the second one is about despite reading 6 summaries..it's also the absolute worst quality transfer I've ever seen of anything, with vertical green stripes through the first half, barely any colour, ten seconds of leader about halfway through. It's not the chopped up 68-minute version, it's not the cheesy black and white release, and as far as I know it's not a public domain film. Somebody must have had a TV print squirreled away. Strange.

It's 2009. I scooped a collection of Halloween tunes via Bit Torrent and that's what we listened to as we carved a couple of pumpkins and got my kid dressed up to go out. Best part of the evening. People down the street had their bbq going and were serving up hot dogs and hamburgers for the adults.

About 10 years ago, the guy at a store I bought computer parts from gave me two Betamax tapes from RPI Videopool of music videos. One was a collection of videos from the early 90s. The other was a Halloween tape which was pretty good but some of the videos were a stretch theme-wise, and now dated but not a bad tape. I dubbed them over to my computer a few years back to make it easier to play.

The people who fired up the barbecue to grill food for the adults had a great idea - I'd never have thought of that. Next year, instead of attending a "get let down by your 'friends'" session like what happened last night, I think I'll do that instead. And forget to tell the 'friends' from last night about the BBQ.

It was great. They had their garage open. Fog machine going. Everyone, meaning two parents and a teenager (maybe 17, probably getting up to no good later that evening :-) , were in costume, lots of treats for the kids and the grill going for the adults. The whole south Leaside neighbourhood was great but these people especially.

I don't usually waste my eyeballs on Rosie in the Star but she had a funny column this morning about kids trying to trick-or-treat on the Bridle Path. Any 50s kids remember when we all called it "Shell out"?

I went up and down the dial, AM and FM and was really disappointed... Going back a few years, the late Chris "Punch" Andrews really knew how to do Hallowe'en. I'd listen every year. For one night a year he was Punchkin Andrews.
