A lot of people I know have commented how much they are enjoying this show in the morning. Does anyone know what chart they use for each year...RPM, CHUM, Billboard?

I love this feature as well - it's just too bad that they don't fill the gap before 11 am with other songs from the same year spolighted instead of the filler they use now - detracts from the show.

Using Billboard means that any cancon Top 10 songs are being ignored...

And using Whitburn means that any chart figures for before mid 1940 are made up, if the program goes back that far.

The Music Director has occasionally mentioned on Friday Nite Bandstand that he relies heavily on Billboard. AM 740s healthy appetite for A. Murray, P. Anka and G. Lightfoot obviously comes from another cookbook entirely. As to prior to the mid-40s, you gotta be kiddin David . . . Kate Aitken

Just mentioned it only because one time I heard a Jimmie Lunceford record (!) from 1935 (!) referred to as a #1 hit. I'm a night owl..who's up to listen to the radio this early in the morning? Now back to my old Fred Allen transcriptions.
