There are signs that the EU is sailing into troubled waters in regards to accepting new members and agreeing with some of the existing ones. I, for one, would not be happy with Serbia entering the union with countries that waged a savage war on Serbia seven years ago. For Serbs, entry into the EU would mean signing their own death warrant.
It is interesting, and indeed significant, that there is a shift towards the union of Serbs and Greeks even if still scattered across several options. I am convinced that there is a steady move towards a closer union between the two brotherly peoples and a move away from favouring the EU membership amongst the Serbs.

: Okay, I understand your logic. And I agree.
: Not only would such a "union" lack
: any real substance but the Europeans would
: also try to Westernize Serbia and destroy
: the traditional Greek-Serb friendship.

: No doubt that such a "union" would
: be void of any real substance. The impact
: ;however, that it would have on the citizens
: of Greece and Serbia would certianly be
: great enough to pave the way for a genunine
: confederation between the nations; One that
: would not encompass values normally
: associated with today's western world. Now
: you can see my rationale for including it in
: the subsection titled "Support some
: sort of merger (also of varying
: types)". On a side note, I don't see
: this sort of union ever coming into play.
: The possibility that such a proposal posses
: for a sort of "intellectual
: independence" of the west, is a strong
: reason why it will never be ratified or even
: considered by the EU.
