You need to properly configure your printer so it knows that tray 2 (the top tray) is letter size and tray 3 (the bottom tray) is legal size. Once that has been configured, then the application should be able to communicate with the printer to pick the proper size paper. If you are using the Adobe Reader, be sure to check the "Choose Paper Source by PDF page size" option. To ensure that your printer is working properly, you can download a small three-page PDF test document. Go to my website (see link below) and select the "Download" menu option on the left of the screen. Then you can download the "testfeed.pdf" file for printing. This little file should print the first and third pages on legal size, and the second page on letter size.
