I don't know of any law, but in our industry there is a lot of "tradition" and "protocal". Blue or black is acceptable unless the lender specifically requests a particular color.
I for one, would love to sign all my docs in purple gel pen, but I'm sure that won't happen soon! Plus, it probably wouldn't look too professional
