I don't believe in this. I'm definitely sure that in my state, NJ, you cannot become a Notary Public if you have had any criminal record. So as to have a background check, as far as I'm concerned, it's not necessary. I believe that this "NNA" and Gramm-Leach-and Bliley are capitalizing somehow. I do a lot of work for title companies and lenders and they in no way have heard about this nor asked me to get a screening. Only the ones that NNA and these guys work with.
