Jeff,
I've listening to Borboletta a lot lately. It just blows me away. It feels like Caravanserai, Welcome and Lotus were sketchbooks for Borboletta. The bands feels more at ease. Tom Coster's piano is in top form. Armando Peraza sounds like he has jelled in with the band. Although this is Michael Shrieve's departure, he leaves in a high note. Nudugu concentrates on playing traps and not doubling on up the timbales. Airto Moreira's trap drums and Brazilian percussions are always welcome. Sadly this was Doug Rauch's farewell, but the return of Dave Brown, and Stanley Clarke guesting on bass more than made up for the loss. Leon Patillo's voice was very appropriate for the album's material. It seemed that there was less and less work for Chepito, the few parts that he played on are timeless.
I'm late for work!
